I hope everyone has had a fantastic summer! Please let me take this moment to welcome you all back to university, ready for the new term – and ask you all to renew your mussoc memberships so we can have a great year!
First of all, introducing your new committee. I’m Olivia Thomas, your new secretary, and I’ll be sending out fortnightly updates with rehearsal schedules (plus if rehearsals are cancelled, or if there are room changes I’ll let you know here), planned socials and any other information we think might be important or helpful via email, so make sure you're signed up to our mailing list to get those. You’ll also be getting monthly updates from Verity Hodson-Walker, our marketing director, letting you know what gigs and concerts are occurring around the toon. Your president for this year is Alys John, who is always happy to have a chat if you see her around! We also have Michael Winter, as treasurer, Rosie Sturt and Sara Blei as our social secretaries.
In other news, we’re busy planning our first social of the year. We’ve got a party in the Student's Union planned for the 5th of October and also a white t shirt social planned for the 12th of October – more details to follow! We are also hoping to keep this blog more active with lots of different features, so any budding journalists please give me an email! We plan to feature reviews of mussoc concerts and other gigs around the town, and are open to suggestions other articles - please get in touch if you have any ideas.
Lastly, how to renew your membership so you can enjoy all the exciting things we've got lined up for you this year? Next week, when we've had a chance to welcome all the new freshers, you'll be able to renew your membership online in the Newcastle University Student's Union website.
That’s all for now - see you soon!
